Ahmedabad: Breaking News! Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has hit back at the CBI and Congress. Modi plays the 'Gujarat Card' to counter both. 'Why the CBI is maligning people of Gujarat", he asked. Narendra Modi questioned the way CBI was functioning in Sohrabuddin Sheikh "fake" encounter case. He also slammed the CBI for filing a case against former Gujarat MoS for Home Amit Shah and accused the investigating agency of playing in the hands of the Congress. Modi said he is sad that CBI has insulted the Gujarat Judiciary by seeking transfer of Sohrabudding Sheikh encounter case outside Gujarat. Modi cited examples of the Best Bakery case and Bilkis Bano case to reveal that all investigation, case papers and chargesheets were prepared by the Gujarat police even though the cases were transferred to Mumbai. "The Gujarat police did no wrong. It was right and the CBI was wrong. The CBI has launched a tirade against the courts, judges, police and people of Gujarat, which cannot be tolerated", he thundered. Modi also took a dig on his critics and adversaries, saying "Stop trying to frighten Narendra Modi. He was never won't be intimidated. The battle is between nationalists and anti-nationals and the battlefield is Gujarat. Gujarat will win this battle", he said. He also took a potshot at the CBI, asking its members to enter the electoral fray in Gujarat as Congress candidates. Is Gujarat an enemy state?, asked Modi to the Congress Party. Meanwhile, the Congress has criticized Modi for his outbursts against the CBI. "Hundred of cases related to Godhra riots were transferred to Maharahstra. Why did not Modi feel any insult at that time", asked Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi. Singhvi accused Modi of trying to influence the probe, using government machinery and rubbished the allegations that his party is misusing the CBI. |
