| Bollywood pays Tribute to Aamir Khan's Father Tahir Husain |

Mumbai: An indebted Bollywood industry paid rich tributes to legendary filmmaker Tahir Hussain, who passed away following a cardiac arrest on Tuesday. Tahir Hussain was the father of Bollywood star, Aamir Khan. Tahir was in early 70s, when he breathed his last.
Aamir Khan is currently in the US with wife Kiran Rao to promote his film Peepli Live at the Sundance Festival. He is expected to be back on Wednesday. Funeral will take place after Aamir returns from Los Angeles. Tahir died at Aamir's Bandra residence.
Although Hussain was born in India, his family roots are with the ethnic Pashtuns of Afghanistan. He was related to Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad. Tahir was the younger brother of late producer-director Nasir Husain. He started his film career as an assistant director to his brother Nasir in films like Tumsa Nahin Dekha and Dil De Ke Dekho in 1957.
Tahir also directed Aamir Khan's movie 'Hum Hai Rahi Pyaar Ke'. Some of hit films include, 'Madhosh', Anamika', 'Zakhmee' and 'Hum Hai Rahi Pyaar Ke'. He also acted in ‘Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai’, ‘Janam Janam Ka Saath’ and ‘Pyaar Ka Mausam’.
Tahir Hussain is survived by his wife Zeenat, sons Aamir and Faisal and daughters Farhat and Nikhat. Many film personalities, including Mahesh Bhatt, Rakesh Roshan and Asha Parekh expressed deep condolence at the death of Tahir Hussain, the legend. |
