San Francisco: According to latest reports, which will further aggravate the situation for PayPal users in India, PayPal said that the suspension of certain services in India may continue for months, as the company still works out on the questions raised by local regulators. Â In the latest PayPal blog post, Anuj Nayar wrote that they have temporarily suspended these services to respond to inquiries from the Indian regulators, specifically questions on whether personal payments constitute remittances into India. Â "The regulators recently let PayPal know about revised licensing rules that we are now actively engaged in securing. Personal payments to and from India will be suspended for at least a few months until we fully resolve the questions from the Indian regulators", he further added. Â "Customers should be able to withdraw their funds to a local bank within the next few days. Customers will also be reimbursed for any withdrawal fee charges.", he said. Some customers complained that they incurred heavy charges during reconversion of amount from Indian Rupees to US Dollar. Hopefully, PayPal will issue a refund for that too. Â PayPal had suspended all personal payments to and from India on January 28 without any notice to its account holders. That raised concerns and enraged the loyal PayPal users across the country. Â Anuj categorically said that only personal payments have been reversed and other services are not affected. He also gave an option to the senders, if they want to send money to a PayPal account in India. Here you go: Â If this was a payment for a purchase of goods or services, you should contact the sender and have him or her resend the payment as follows: (a) click the "Send Money" tab, and (b) select "purchase." |
