Ahmedabad: Breaking News! It was a repeat of 2009. Bengal faltered at the last hurdle, as Tamil Nadu won the Vijay Hazare Trophy by 29 runs. Bengal fought bravely, but fell short of 29 runs in the end.

Earlier, Tamil Nadu posted a mammoth total of 379/6 in 50 overs. Murali Vijay was the top scorer with 103, while Dinesh Karthik made 88. Aniruddha Srikkanth contributed 56. Abhinav Mukund  too made 75.

Chasing a victory target of 380, Bengal came close, thanks to a 120-run second wicket partnership between Sreevats Goswami and Sourav Ganguly. However, the middle order batsmen could not live up to the expectations and Bengal lost the match by 29 runs.
