Breaking News! India's Saina Nehwal made history, as she became the first Indian (male and women) to win a medal in Badminton at the Olympics. Saina got a walkover in the bronze medal match after her rival Xin Wang of China got injured.
Â
It was heartbreak for Xin Wang and the medal for Saina came at a disappointing note. World No. 2 Xin Wang looked too strong for China and took the first set 21-18. She fumbled towards the end of the first set and then was unable to walk properly when the second set began. She was leading 1-0 in the second set when she collapsed to the ground.
Â
Saina was declared winner after Xin Wang expressed her inability to continue and pulled out of the match. India have so far won one silver and two bronze medals at the London Olympics. |
