News Desk: After a series of controversial results and scores in men's boxing in the London Olympics 2012, questions about the scoring system were raised.
According to BBC, the eyebrows were raised on last Wednesday when Azerbaijan fought Japan. Azeri bantamweight Magomed Abdulhamidov was declared the winner even though he was knocked down six times by Japanese fighter Satoshi Shimizu in the final round.
The allegation of match fixing reported after decision by the juries. The referee Ishanguly Meretnyyazov was removed immediately. BBC reported that $9 million had been paid from Azerbaijan to the international boxing authorities for two golds.
However, the International Boxing Authority (AIBA) denied any match fixing. Even the IOC found no wrong doing in that match.
Earlier, the Indian boxers were also disappointed due to the wrong judgements by the referees. |
