Johannesburg: Breaking News! The Spanish Armada sank the Dutch ship and won their maiden FIFA World Cup title in style. Andres Iniesta was the hero, as his goal helped Spain beat the Netherlands 1-0 in an exciting and high-voltage World Cup final tonight.

The Netherlands faltered at the last hurdle again. They were the only unbeaten team in the tournament so far. But, today was not their day. The Dutch had to be content with the runners-up trophy for the third time - 1974, 1978, 2010.

Spain, the European Champions dominated the match and created many chances. The Dutch defenders managed to counter the Spanish attack on many occasions. Both teams remained goalless at the end of regulation time.

The first half of the Extra Time (ET) produced no goals. In a dramatic development, John Heitinga of the Netherlands was sent off in the 109th minute. That came as an advantage for the Spanish team.

Andres Iniesta became a national hero for Spain, as he broke the deadlock and scored the lone goal of the match in the 116th minute. Spain beat the Netherlands 1-0 to win the FIFA World Cup 2010 - their maiden World Cup title.

While the Spanish players jumped, sang and danced with full of joy, the Dutch were devastated. They were seen crying on the field. They knew they lost a great oportunity to create history for their country.

Paul the Octopus came right again and maintained a 100 percent true prediction record in FIFA World Cup 2010. He got it all right throughout the World Cup. He has become a celebrity now and is undoubtedly the "Player of the Tournament"!
