News Desk: Maruti has hiked the price of its Swift DZire diesel cars by Rs 8000 to Rs 12,000. However, there is no alteration in the price of the petrol variant of the Swift DZire.

This is the second price hike for the car after its introduction in February this year. The second generation Swift DZire was priced at Rs 5.80 lakh-Rs 7.09 lakh for the diesel versions at the time of launch.

At the launch, Maruti had mentioned that the opening price was just an introductory offer. Later after the Union budget in April this year, price of those cars were hiked by Rs 8,500-Rs 12,700. The company had mentioned that the new price was introduced keeping in view the enhancement of taxes.

However, this is for the second time price of the Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire has been hiked this month. This time the prices will go up by Rs 8,000 to Rs 12,000 depending on the variant.

In this way the prices per variant of the new Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire diesel have gone up by roughly Rs. 20,000 since its launch in February 2012.

The sub four-metre Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire was proved as one of the biggest seller. Despite the price hike of Rs 8,500-Rs 12,700 after the Union Budget, the car has been selling in huge numbers.

Rising input costs has been claimed to be the reason of this second hike for the new Swift DZire diesel.

The three variants of the Swift DZire diesel are LDi, VDI and ZDi. The LDi now costs Rs 5.99 lakh (after a hike of Rs 8,000), the middle of the line VDi costs Rs 6.52 lakh (after a hike of Rs 10,000), while the ZDi variant costs Rs 7.34 lakh (after a hike of Rs 12,000) after this new price hike.

It should be noted that the price hike is only for the diesel models only.
