News Desk: Cyber security agencies have alarmed Internet users and operators of India that some hackers are attempting to target websites of reputed government and private organisations.
The Computer Emergency Response Team of India (CERT-In), country's national agency that takes care of the computer security warned that some hacker groups are attacking reputed websites of government and private organisations through distributed denial of service (DDoS). Hence, surfers should install ample security measures to their system to curb these cyber assaults, they alerted.
When a host attacks a single target resulting in denial of service for users of the targeted system, it is called DDoS.
"Deploy appropriate intrusion or DDoS prevention system capable of detecting and mitigating DDoS attacks and ensure that intrusion system contains signatures to detect the attacks launched from common DDoS tools, among others," the agency said.
Normally these types of attacks can be prevented only if cyber security tools are activated and updated regularly.
