News Desk: A major solar storm is likely to hit our Earth on Saturday morning and its effect will last till Sunday. The storm may affect the power grid, airlines and internet, scientists said.

However, there will not be any ill effects to any systems, according to the US Space Weather Prediction Center in Colorado.

There's a bright side to stormy space weather: It tends to spawn colorful northern lights as the charged particles bombard Earth's outer magnetic field. Shimmering auroras may be visible at the United States-Canada border and northern Europe this weekend, said a scientist Joe Kunches.

The solar storm began on Thursday with massive flare coming out of Sun and headed towards Earth at 3 million mph. For the sixth time this year a powerful solar storm occurred.

The solar storm in fact can cause power blackouts, damage satellites, disrupt mobile networks and high-frequency radio communications, internet and sometimes airlines. However, no previous storms had caused any damaged to any systems.
