News Desk: Less than a week after India joined the elite club of ICBM nations with the test-fire of ‘Agni-V’, Pakistan on Wednesday test-fired a nuclear capable ballistic missile 'Shaheen-1A'.

Pakistan had earlier informed its close rival India about its planning to conduct a long-range missile test in the Indian Ocean seeking clearance of the area for the trial.

The ballistic missile is capable of carrying a nuclear warhead. It is an improved version of the Shaheen 1. It is believed to cover the range up to 750 kilometers (465 miles).

The trial conducted by Pakistan showed the rivalry and competition between two countries to be strong in defence.

India had test-fired its indigenously developed nuclear capable ‘Agni-V’ ballistic missile with a range of over 5,000 km from the Wheeler Island off Odisha coast on April 19.

The Agni V is capable of carrying a pay-load of 1 tonne. It is 17 m long, 2 m wide and weighs 50 tonnes. It is capable of covering entire China and can reach deep into Europe.
