News Desk: A suicide bomber carried out a huge bomb blast outside a central Damascus mosque in Syria, killing 10 people on the spot and injuring over 20. The death toll is likely to go up further.

The TV reports suggest that the impact of the blast was so high that bodies were ripped apart beyond recognition. Some security officials are also among the injured.

Syria has been hit by widespread violence over the last one year. According to the UN reports, the Syrian forces have killed more than 9,000 people in the 13-month-old rebellion against President Assad. However, Syria has claimed that the rebels have killed over 2,600 soldiers so far.
