News Desk: Ruth Rose, a British grandpa is all set to turn into a grandmother in a few months. The 80 year old and six feet high former Air Force Officer is ready to go through a sex change operation to attain his dream to become a woman.


After the surgery Ruth will be the oldest person in the UK to have the procedure. The surgery will cost him approximately 22000 USD.


The doctors have scheduled the sex change surgery for October next year at London's Charing Cross Hospital. Meanwhile, he is being treated with NHS-prescribed hormone therapy to support his medical intention.


Rose, a former Royal Air Force (RAF) officer from Newhaven, East Sussex, married in 1961 and had a son and two daughters. The granddad of four said that he had dreamt of becoming a woman from the age of nine. The couple divorced in 2003 after 42 years of marriage. However, from 1970, James (his name as a man) began to spend more time as Ruth, dressing as a woman.


Ruth has decided to live fully as a woman in public two years ago after the surgery at the age of 80 when he will be old enough to bother about sex.
